Great video Ralph! Lots of cool stuff! I didn’t realize they made so many different attachments for the WILLYS. My grandpa used them for hay equipment and I knew that some pulled plows but I have never seen a backhoe attachment.

I have the exact same item as you. How were you able to tighten the bolts to the terminal without shocking yourself? Which do you first put on, the positive or negative when installing?

I don't think THAT hub would have come off, even with the flame wrench. Seized/corroded like that, you did the right thing by cutting it in half. Even then, the second half was stuck very strongly to the shaft, as you found out. The FIRST time I split the trans case on a Gravely 8000, it was scary, with all the shims, spacers and bearings. The SECOND time I split one, it was MUCH more familiar and I made sure to keep EVERYTHING in order. Re-assembly then is so much easier and sensible. Most times, splitting the cases is to replace the PTO clutches.

I feel like the flywheel fan will take the exhaust heat and blow it around the block. Hopefully no overhearing issues. why blow it straight back why not angled downward

I gotta admit, I watched this video to see how you would deal with that bottom points cover screw. LOL! You nailed it. That's the only thing I don't like about the 212 and 214 tractors, changing the points.

unless the bearings are spun and the crank is shot it is worth a new lease on life . should have it going in a month with a few hours a day

Congratulations on # 999! I can’t wait to see # 1,000. You might as well fix and keep it in the collection. I’m going to guess that since it’s yours, probably fresh gas, clean the points and plug. Maybe a plug wire?

I say try and fix it and worst case sell it / give it away. Would be a shame to scrap such a nice and complete tractor! Especially an earlier one like that!

Wish I could find a model L for $25, I paid $500 for my 56 and 60 model L's and my 56 is just as rusty but has the gear reduction hubs so that's a plus. Be cool to see it fixed up and running !!!

don't scrap it take to a high school shop class for them to learn, a shop teacher should let you give a class on gravelys it would make a good vidio too.
